The Thrills of the Game

If you wanted to write a movie to capture the absolute excitement and pandemonium of international football, the last game between Inter and FC Barcelona would be it. This will go down as one of the best games in the UCL. Ever.

Milan was up by two goals, then went down to Barça 3-2. An incredible goal in stoppage time and another stunner in extra time sent Inter to the UEFA Champions League finals against PSG. Wow!

Now that everyone has caught their breath for a moment, Inter can now focus on trying to win the Italian league and the Scudetto, as they play for the Serie A title. Their fate is not fully up to them, because as of 15 May, 2025 Inter is one point behind Napoli. Ever since the 2022–23 season, if two teams tie on points, Serie A has used a play-off match to determine the champion. So how will this end? Inter has lost two of their last five matches, so they need to finish strong and hope Napoli stumbles.

Will Inter win the Italian league again or will Lazio derail their dreams? Will Lazio hold onto a spot in next year's UCL? It all comes down to the last two games of the season. Watch the replay on TrillerTV+.

All About Serie A

Known as Serie A Enilive in Italy and Serie A Made in Italy abroad (for sponsorship reasons), the Italian league was founded in 1929. Since 2004, it has 20 teams that play 38 matches each season, including some very famous clubs known around the world. The top 5 finishers qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The top three, most successful clubs in Italy with the most Serie A titles are:

  • Juventus (36)
  • Inter Milan (20)
  • AC Milan (19)

Some Fun Facts About Inter

They are formally known as Football Club Internazionale Milano, but more commonly referred to as:

  • Internazionale
  • Inter
  • Inter Milan

The club was founded in 1908, and their home ground is called San Siro or the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (named for Inter's former manager and the two-time World Cup winner in 1934 and 1938)

Inter won the title last season (2023–24) and is looking to repeat as champions once again. From 2005-2010 they won five titles in a row, though the 2005-2006 title was given to Inter after Juventus and several other clubs were involved in a scandal. They would love nothing more than to win the Serie A and the UEFA Champions League in the same season. We shall see if they can do it.

What to Know About Lazio

SS Lazio, formally called Società Sportiva Lazio, was founded in 1900 and is celebrating its 125th anniversary as a club. They have won the Coppa Italia seven times, the Supercoppa Italiana five times, and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup one time each.

Their home ground is Stadio Olimpico in Rome, which is also the home of Italy's national football team, and their intercity rivals, Roma. The colors of their kits (Sky blue and white) are inspired by Greece and the Ancient Olympic Games. Lazio currently sits 5th in the table, tied with Juventus at 64 points, and ahead of Roma, who are 6th with 63 points. They have had two wins and three draws in their last five matches and they'll want a win here.
