Surge of Grappling Action Hits FITE with The Grappling Network and Insane SOS PPV

July 27, 2021

TGN will now be carried by the leading combat sports platform, along with its over-the-top kick-off celebration, SOS, on July 31st with burlesque acts and musical guests Petite Meller, Ariel Beesley and DJ Aero and top talent from the Other Peoples Children agency.

Los Angeles, CA (July 27, 2021)--The Grappling Network (TGN) is coming to FITE with regular events and documentaries around all non-striking fight sports including submission wrestling and BJJ. To celebrate the partnership, TGN and FITE will host the event Submission Only Series (SOS) also known as Save Our Summer, live from the Academy LA on Saturday, July 31st. The event features a 16-man submission only tournament and a Team USA qualifying match using the United World Wrestling (UWW) ruleset. It will also give fans over-the-top burlesque and danger show acts and musical performances by Petite Meller, Ariel Beesley and DJ Aero.

The event was organized by Blair Green, the Executive Director of USA Grappling which answers to UWW, and ultimately, to the International Olympic Committee, and is also sponsored by top model and talent agency Other Peoples Children (OPC). The Team USA qualifying match will have TJ Steinebach facing BJJ World Champion Eric Medina. On the sub only side we have several of 10th Planet's best from Texas, Vegas, and Orange County facing many of the top BJJ academies in the world including ATOS, Checkmat, AOJ, CSW, Rosas Bros, MCBJJ, and more.

What's this all about? We just wanted to make something that had everything we love: great competition, great music and a little demented fun," said Green. "It's a rising trend --mixing sports and music to give fans more -- but you haven't seen it quite like this. With FITE we're going to really shake people up."

Determined to "Save Our Summer" are Pop genius and style icon Petite Miller, appearing on the heels of her acclaimed recent release Dying out of Love, and L.A. "It girl" Ariel Beesly whose performance will include her radio hit "So Baby" (both are OPC clients). Keeping the beat through the night will be international touring DJ Aero. Accompanying performances will feature dancing by Booty Burlesque, and world-famous danger act Alex Magala. More OPC talent attending the event include: Dani Miller, lead singer of Surfbort, and face of Gucci, most recently scene in Riz Ahmed's Sound of Metal; Gabreitte, lead singer of Nasty Cherry and cast member of Netflix's I'm with the Band; Pro skater Janthavy Norton; MotoGP racer Joe Roberts; and actor and musician Noah Urrea who is currently touring with pop group Now United.

Among the content TGN will feature on FITE is the debut of the documentary Life of a Fighter: The Journey starring Chad George and directed by Anna Cespedes (Young & Alone, I'm Emilia).
