Alex Tyson Carey is an Australian international cricketer and wicket-keeper batter. A left-handed batter, Carey is known for his reliable wicket-keeping and middle-order batting. Before focusing fully on cricket, he was also a professional Australian rules footballer, showing his athletic background before switching back to cricket in his early twenties.
Carey made his ODI debut for Australia in January 2018, followed by his T20I debut in February 2018, and later his Test debut in December 2021. He eventually became Australia’s first-choice Test wicket-keeper, taking over the role during the 2021–22 Ashes period.
He has played important innings in Test cricket, including a Test century (156) in Sri Lanka*, and contributed in major series such as the Ashes and the World Test Championship. His performances with both bat and gloves helped establish him as Australia’s main wicket-keeper in Test cricket.
