David Andrew Miller is a South African international cricketer known for his powerful middle-order batting and finishing ability in limited-overs cricket. A left-handed batter and occasional right-arm off-break bowler, Miller plays for the South Africa national cricket team in ODIs and T20Is and is recognised globally for his big-hitting prowess. He also competes in domestic and franchise T20 leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL) with multiple teams over his career such as Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, and most recently Delhi Capitals.
Miller made his T20I debut for South Africa in May 2010 against West Indies, followed by his ODI debut two days later in the same series. Over more than a decade in international cricket, he has been a linchpin of South Africa’s limited-overs batting, often anchoring chases and playing decisive late-innings knocks. He holds multiple records, including one of the fastest T20I centuries by a South African, achieved in 35 balls — the fastest against full-member opposition at that time.
Miller has been a top run-scorer in key ICC tournaments: he amassed 324 runs at an average of 65 with a strike rate of 139 in the 2015 Cricket World Cup, and later 356 runs at an average of 45 and strike rate of 108 in the 2023 Cricket World Cup, including a century in the semi-final against Australia. He was a central figure in South Africa’s run to the final of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where he contributed with strong batting performances.
He has also stepped into leadership roles in South Africa’s T20I side, being named captain for tours in 2025, though injuries affected his participation in some series.
Miller’s domestic career began with Dolphins and KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa before he became a mainstay in franchise T20 leagues. In the IPL, he has played for Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow Super Giants, scoring heavily — including 481 runs at an average of over 68 for Gujarat in their title-winning 2022 campaign — and later moving to Delhi Capitals for the 2026 season. His ability to clear boundaries and handle pressure has made him a valued T20 asset globally.
Beyond the IPL, Miller has featured in competitions such as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with Multan Sultans, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), The Hundred in England with Welsh Fire, and Major League Cricket (MLC) with Texas Super Kings, showcasing his adaptability across global conditions.
Miller’s batting is defined by powerful driving, wide-range strike placement, and the ability to finish innings fiercely. He combines technique with brute hitting power, often shifting momentum late in limited-overs matches. His high strike rates and capacity to accelerate scoring in the final overs have made him one of the premier finishers in modern white-ball cricket. His occasional off-spin bowling adds tactical flexibility, while his fielding contributes value across formats.
David Miller is a veteran South African limited-overs batter and match finisher, known for his aggressive middle-order play, high pressure-game contributions, and key performances in global tournaments. His consistency, power hitting, and experience across international and franchise cricket positions him as one of South Africa’s most impactful white-ball cricketers of the 2010s and 2020s.
