Deepti Sharma

Deepti Bhagwan Sharma is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a left-handed batting all-rounder and right-arm off-break bowler. She represents India across formats and has become one of the country's most reliable all-round performers.

She is particularly known for her control with off-spin, tactical awareness, ability to contribute in pressure situations, and useful middle- or lower-order batting.

Deepti developed an interest in cricket at a young age and regularly accompanied her older brother to training sessions. She was reportedly noticed after producing a direct hit from roughly 50 metres during one practice session, helping bring her to the attention of former India selector Hemlata Kala.

She progressed rapidly through domestic cricket and made her ODI debut for India against South Africa on 28 November 2014, aged just 17. She later debuted in T20Is against Australia in January 2016 and in Test cricket against England in June 2021.

She became an important component of India's middle order and spin attack, capable of bowling during the powerplay, controlling the middle overs, or operating late in an innings.

By early 2026, Deepti had played only a limited number of Tests due to the scarcity of women's Test matches, but had already produced significant contributions with both bat and ball.

ODI cricket has been one of Deepti's strongest formats. By the end of the 2025 World Cup cycle, she had established herself as both a dependable run-scorer and one of India's principal wicket-taking spinners.

Her career includes an ODI highest score of 188, one of the largest individual scores by an Indian woman in the format, as well as best bowling figures of 6/20.

Deepti has also been a major part of India's T20I side, eventually becoming a 100-wicket bowler in T20 internationals while contributing useful runs in the lower middle order.

Her value in T20 cricket comes particularly from her economy, variations, and ability to bowl in different phases of an innings.

Her role in India's 2025 World Cup triumph further strengthened her reputation as one of the team's leading big-match all-rounders.

Deepti is a genuine spin-bowling all-rounder, with her bowling generally being the more influential part of her game.

The ICC has highlighted both her ability to challenge batters with off-spin in different conditions and her usefulness as a lower-order hitter.

Deepti has also developed a substantial franchise career. She became a central player for UP Warriorz in the Women's Premier League, while gaining overseas experience with teams such as London Spirit, Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars.

Her versatility makes her especially valuable in franchise cricket because she can provide four overs of frontline spin while also extending the batting order.

Deepti has developed into one of India's most successful modern all-rounders. Her longevity is notable: by 2026, she had already accumulated more than a decade of international experience despite still being in her twenties.

Away from cricket, she was appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police in Uttar Pradesh in January 2025 under a sports quota scheme, reflecting the recognition she has received for her sporting achievements.

Deepti Sharma is one of the most complete all-round cricketers produced by India in the modern women's game. Since making her international debut as a teenager in 2014, she has developed into an elite off-spinner, dependable left-handed batter, and experienced player across all three formats.

With 100+ T20I wickets, major ODI performances, international tournament medals, extensive franchise experience, and a 2025 World Cup title, Deepti has established herself as a central figure in India's strongest generation of women's cricketers.
