Fakhar Zaman is a Pakistani international cricketer and left-handed opening batter known for his aggressive batting style in limited-overs cricket. He also bowls slow left-arm orthodox spin occasionally. Fakhar is best known for his attacking approach at the top of the order and has been a key player for Pakistan in ODIs and T20Is, as well as in franchise leagues such as the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Fakhar made his international debut for Pakistan in 2017 and quickly established himself as a match-winning opening batter. One of the most important moments of his career came in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Final, where he scored a match-winning century against India to help Pakistan win the tournament.
In July 2018, Fakhar made history by becoming the first Pakistani batsman to score a double century in ODIs, scoring 210 not out against Zimbabwe. Just two days later, he also became the fastest player to reach 1,000 ODI runs, achieving the milestone in only 18 innings.
In April 2021, he scored 193 against South Africa while chasing, which became the highest individual score in an ODI chase at the time.
During the 2023 Cricket World Cup, Fakhar hit 11 sixes in an innings against New Zealand, setting a record for the most sixes by a Pakistani batter in a World Cup innings.
Fakhar began his domestic career in Pakistan and made his first-class debut in 2013. Before becoming a professional cricketer, he served in the Pakistan Navy, where his cricketing talent was further developed.
In franchise cricket, Fakhar has played for teams such as Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League and has also participated in international T20 leagues including tournaments in the Caribbean, Bangladesh, and other global competitions.
He has also held records such as most runs in a bilateral ODI series for Pakistan, scoring 515 runs in a series against Zimbabwe in 2018.
