Mohammad Nawaz is a Pakistani international cricketer and versatile left-arm orthodox spin all-rounder. A left-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler, Nawaz combines tactical spin bowling with useful middle-order batting, offering balance and flexibility across Pakistan’s formats. He has represented Pakistan internationally since 2016 and has been a key contributor in limited-overs cricket as well as an experienced performer in franchise T20 leagues.
Nawaz made his T20I debut for Pakistan on 29 February 2016 against the United Arab Emirates during the Asia Cup, followed by his ODI debut on 18 August 2016 versus Ireland, where he scored a half-century. He later made his Test debut on 13 October 2016 against the West Indies in Dubai, marking the start of a multi-format international career.
Across his career, Nawaz has delivered notable all-round performances: in July 2022 he claimed his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket, and in September 2025 he recorded his first T20I five-for — including a hat-trick to bowl Afghanistan out for 66 in a UAE tri-series — earning both Player of the Match and Player of the Series honors. Most recently, during Pakistan’s February 2026 T20I series against Australia, Nawaz produced a career-best T20I bowling performance of 5/18, playing a pivotal role in a dominant series whitewash.
Nawaz began his domestic career with regional teams such as Rawalpindi and National Bank of Pakistan, progressing through Pakistan’s domestic structure before becoming a fixture in higher-level competitions. In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he debuted with Quetta Gladiators in 2016, finishing as one of the tournament’s leading wicket-takers in the inaugural season and later appearing for Karachi Kings and Islamabad United.
Beyond the PSL, Nawaz has featured in various international T20 leagues: he has played for Cape Town Blitz in the Mzansi Super League, Sylhet Sixers and Rajshahi Royals in the Bangladesh Premier League, and other franchise sides, showcasing his spin bowling and adaptability across conditions.
Nawaz’s bowling — slow left-arm orthodox — is marked by flight, control, and subtle variations that help build pressure and extract wickets in the middle overs. He is valued for his ability to contain scoring in limited-overs cricket and to break partnerships with timely breakthroughs. With the bat, Nawaz provides depth in the lower middle order, capable of contributing useful runs when needed, while his athletic fielding adds further value.
