Naseem Abbas Shah is a Pakistani international cricketer and one of his country’s most promising fast bowlers. A right-handed lower-order batter and right-arm fast bowler, he is known for his pace, smooth bowling action and ability to generate movement early in innings. Naseem entered the international scene as a teenager and has since become a key component of Pakistan’s seam attack in all formats.
Shah made his Test debut in November 2019 against Australia at age 16, becoming one of the youngest fast bowlers to debut at Test level. He quickly made an impact, including taking a five-wicket haul early in his Test career and earning recognition for his ability to bowl at high speeds with consistent lines. Over his career he has featured regularly for Pakistan in Tests, ODIs and T20Is, leading the pace unit with strike bowling and control.
In limited overs he has been selected consistently for Pakistan’s squads and has taken key wickets in series, including multi-wicket performances in ODIs and contributions with the new ball in T20 internationals.
In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Shah began his career with Quetta Gladiators (2019–2023) before moving to Islamabad United ahead of the 2025 season. In franchise cricket abroad he has played in leagues such as the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and The Hundred, and has also featured for Gloucestershire in English county cricket. These engagements have given him experience in diverse bowling conditions and formats.
Shah’s role across these leagues has been as a pace spearhead, often opening the bowling and tasked with early breakthroughs. His ability to bowl consistently at high speeds makes him a valuable asset in T20 leagues worldwide.
Naseem’s bowling style combines pace, accuracy and ability to seize early movement, making him effective with the new ball and in pressure situations. He consistently bowls fast deliveries and uses variations to challenge top order batsmen. His smooth action and ability to bowl long spells have drawn comparisons with leading fast bowlers, and he is considered a cornerstone of Pakistan’s future pace plans.
