Sikandar Raza Butt is a Zimbabwean international cricketer and premier all-rounder for Zimbabwe. A right-handed batter and right-arm off-break bowler, Raza is known for his powerful middle-order batting, crafty spin bowling, and leadership on the field. He emigrated with his family to Zimbabwe and later qualified to represent them at the highest level, becoming one of the most influential figures in his country’s modern cricket history.
Raza made his ODI debut in May 2013 against Bangladesh, followed shortly by his Test debut in September 2013 and his T20I debut in November 2013. Since then he has become a mainstay of Zimbabwe’s batting and bowling units across formats, contributing both runs and wickets. He recorded his maiden ODI century (141) against Afghanistan and was integral to key partnerships and historic victories for Zimbabwe.
By early 2026 Raza had established himself as a senior leader for Zimbabwe, captaining the national side in major tournaments, including the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, leading his team with experience and tactical awareness.
Raza’s domestic career began with Mashonaland Eagles and earlier with Northerns, where strong performances earned him national selection. In T20 franchise cricket, he has become a globally recognised figure. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) he played for Punjab Kings, becoming the first Zimbabwean to score an IPL half-century. In 2025 he played a heroic role finishing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final for Lahore Qalandars, hitting the winning runs after a hectic travel schedule.
He has also featured in leagues like the SA20, signing for Paarl Royals, and in English T20 competition with Worcestershire Rapids for the 2026 season, highlighting his demand as a T20 all-rounder worldwide.
Raza’s batting is characterised by powerful middle-order stroke play, resilience under pressure, and the ability to accelerate scoring in critical phases of an innings. He combines classical technique with bold shot selection, often top-scoring for Zimbabwe in major games. As a bowler, his off-spin yields valuable breakthroughs, particularly in middle overs where his control and variations trouble batsmen. His fielding and leadership add further value, making him one of the most complete players for his country.
Sikandar Raza is one of Zimbabwe’s most influential modern cricketers — a powerful batting all-rounder, crafty off-spin bowler, and respected leader. His longevity in international cricket, combined with standout franchise performances and match-defining contributions, positions him as a defining figure for Zimbabwean cricket through the mid-2020s.
