Travis Michael Head is an Australian international cricketer and key top-order batter. A left-handed middle-order batsman and occasional right-arm off-break bowler, he currently serves as co-vice-captain of the Australian Test team and is an influential figure across formats for the Australia national cricket team. Head’s aggressive batting and ability to score quickly have made him a central part of Australia’s batting lineup in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Domestically, he plays for South Australia and in franchise T20 leagues, most recently for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Head debuted for Australia in T20Is in January 2016, ODIs later in 2016, and Tests in October 2018. Since then he has become a prolific run-scorer and match-winner, known for his ability to produce impactful innings in all formats. His career features multiple standout performances: in the 2021–22 Ashes series he was the Player of the Series, leading Australia’s batting efforts with multiple centuries, and he played a pivotal role in Australia’s World Test Championship victory, including a century in the final. Head’s domestic career began with South Australia in first-class cricket, where his performances earned national selection. He has also played in various T20 leagues: for Adelaide Strikers in Australia’s Big Bash League and internationally, including stints with Royal Challengers Bangalore and, more recently, Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. In the 2024 IPL season with Hyderabad, he scored 567 runs in 15 matches, including a century and one of the fastest fifties for the franchise.
Beyond Australia, Head has represented teams such as Sussex in English county cricket and Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket (MLC), expanding his franchise experience globally.
