Evangelos “Vangelis” Pavlidis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and began his football journey at Bebides 2000 FA before moving to Germany to join VfL Bochum’s academy. He made his professional debut with Bochum, later gaining experience with a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund II.
His career took off in the Eredivisie when he joined Willem II in 2019, where he scored regularly and attracted attention for his sharp attacking instincts. In 2021, Pavlidis signed for AZ Alkmaar, where he became one of the league’s most prolific scorers with 57 goals in 92 league matches, winning multiple Player of the Month awards and finishing as Eredivisie top scorer.
In July 2024, Pavlidis made a high-profile transfer to Benfica in Portugal for a reported €18 million. He quickly established himself as a central figure in their attack, continuing his fine scoring form in the Primeira Liga.
Internationally, Pavlidis debuted for the Greece national team in 2019 and has since earned over 48 caps and scored 9 goals, becoming a vital part of the squad’s offensive lineup.
