Yuki Takei Crushes Course Record in Men's Marathon Japan's Yuki Takei stole the spotlight in his first international marathon, blazing through the flat and fast Gold Coast course in 2:07:33, shaving 7 seconds off the previous record set by compatriot Naoki Koyama. Not only did he claim the win-he became the 11th Japanese athlete to take the Gold Coast crown since 1991. He led a dominant Japanese showing with eight of the top ten male finishers hailing from Japan. American Josh Izewski and Kenyan Mathew Samperu were the only international athletes to break the top 10. Australia's Reece Edwards was the top domestic finisher in 20th place.
Tegest Ymer Triumphs in Women's Debut Marathon Ethiopia's Tegest Ymer impressed in her first-ever full marathon, claiming the women's title in 2:29:27. The 23-year-old unleashed a powerful final surge in the last kilometer to outpace Kenyan veteran Caroline Kilel by 16 seconds. Her training partner, Alemtsehay Zerihun, finished third, while Australia's Simone McInnes emerged as the top local woman, placing seventh and clinching the Oceania Championship in 2:37:05.
Wheelchair Races: De Rozario and Rizzo Dominate the Asphalt Samuel Rizzo delivered one of the fastest wheelchair marathon performances in event history, clocking in at 1:31:12-just shy of the course record. Kota Hokinoue and Jake Lappin rounded out the men's podium. In the women's division, Madison de Rozario captured her fourth Gold Coast title in 1:51:28, further cementing her legacy as one of Australia's greatest wheelchair athletes.
