WDSC: El Salvador – Open Luge & Open Inline Highlights
Get ready for the ultimate showdown as the 2025 World Downhill Skateboarding Championship reaches its electrifying conclusion in Tamanique, El Salvador. After a season spanning four continents, legendary tracks, unbelievable crashes, comeback victories, and career-defining moments, everything comes down to this final race.
El Salvador welcomed the world with open arms. From the surf paradise of El Tunco to a purpose-built race village deep in the lush mountains of Tamanique, the energy never stopped—from sunrise long into the night. Backed by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the Office of the President, this finale delivered one of the most spectacular events in downhill skateboarding history.
A World-Class Field Meets a World-Class Track
A total of 124 elite riders from 17 nations took on the brutal 2.2 km course—a steep, technical, winding descent built to test precision, bravery, and pure downhill speed. From open street luge to inline skating, the battles were fierce across every category.
In street luge, early drama struck when a crash eliminated top contender Ulrich Becker. Semi-finals brought heated duels between stars like Andy Lally, Kolby Parks, Abdil Mahdzan, and Frederic Laberge, culminating in a final packed with overtakes, wipeouts, and heart-stopping moments.
Inline Skating: A Championship Decided on the Edge
Colombia's Carlos Quiroga, already a standout after his Round 2 win, entered El Salvador with the championship within reach—but he had to fight for every inch. Crashes, bold passes, and tactical brilliance defined the inline quarters and semis, leading to a dramatic final where Camilo Barrera seized victory after a late-race shake-up.
Quiroga held on to secure the 2025 Inline World Championship, with Armando Hernandez second and Barrera third.
Luge Final Chaos: Rain, Risk & Racing Legends
Moments before the luge final, a sudden rain shower changed everything. After a tense track inspection, riders agreed: the final was ON.
What followed was one of the wildest races of the entire WDSC season.
Andy Lally clawed his way back from a tough start
Kolby Parks made three passes in just a few turns before an explosive crash
Abdil Mahdzan fought through the chaos to claim second
Frederic Laberge secured a hard-earned podium
Lally crossed the line for back-to-back wins—dedicating the victory to injured teammate Ulrich Becker.
Mahdzan's consistency earned him the 2025 World Luge Championship, Becker finished second overall, and Parks rounded out the season in third.
