Preliminary Group Stage Launch in Aichi
Match 1 kicks off the men's preliminary group stage in Group A (comprising Afghanistan, Japan, and Nepal), where securing an opening win is critical to positioning for quarter-final qualification.

For Japan, captained by top-order batter Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming, competing on home soil provides a major opportunity to showcase associate cricket growth. Following their hosting of international sub-regional qualifiers at Kōrogi Sports Park, Japan bring familiar pitch conditions and structured fielding strategies. Powered by key performers-including Lachlan Yamamoto-Lake, Alexander Shirai-Patmore, Ibrahim Takahashi, Reo Sakurano-Thomas, and Charles Hinze-Japan look to test Afghanistan early in morning conditions.

For Afghanistan, captained by middle-order batter Darwish Rasooli leading an A-squad featuring promising regional stars and international talent, asserting early powerplay dominance and controlling the tempo are top priorities. Driven by core contributors-including Najibullah Zadran, Karim Janat, Mohammad Ishaq, Nangeyalia Kharote, Farmanullah Safi, and fast bowler Faridoon Dawoodzai-Afghanistan aim to begin their campaign for the podium with a decisive Group A victory.
