UIM F1H2O World Championship 2026: Grand Prix of Kyrgyzstan, Day 1 - Qualifying
The quest for ultimate speed begins on the pristine waters of Lake Issyk-Kul! As the UIM F1H2O World Championship makes its landmark debut in Central Asia, Saturday morning sets the stage with the high-stakes Official Qualifying Session.
At a breathtaking 1,607 meters above sea level, the world's most elite powerboat drivers push their closed-cockpit catamarans past 220 km/h in the highest-altitude qualifying shootout in motorsport history. One lap can make or break a weekend-determining the starting grids for both Saturday's Sprint Races and setting the trajectory for Sunday's Grand Prix! Catch every flying lap and split-second battle LIVE on TrillerTV!
How F1H2O Qualifying Works: The 3-Stage Shootout
F1H2O uses a dramatic three-stage elimination format where the margin between pole position and midfield is measured in thousandths of a second:
Q1 (20 Minutes): All 20+ drivers take to the water. The pressure is immediate as the bottom group is eliminated, leaving only the fastest 12 boats to advance.
Q2 (15 Minutes): The remaining 12 drivers fight for absolute speed. Only the top 6 fastest boats survive to make the final cut.
Q3 (The Top 6 Shootout): The ultimate high-wire act! The final 6 drivers go out one-by-one for two clean flying laps on an open circuit. The single fastest lap claims Pole Position for the Grand Prix weekend!
High-Altitude Technical Stakes Thin Air Calibration: Standard propeller pitches and fuel-to-air ratios don't apply at 1,600+ meters above sea level. Engineers must fine-tune their Mercury V6 two-stroke engines during morning practice to avoid catastrophic power loss during Qualifying.
Clean Water Advantage: Starting at the front of the grid is more critical here than almost anywhere else. Passing in a rooster-tail spray at 200+ km/h is notoriously difficult, making pole position the most coveted asset of the weekend.
The drivers are strapped in, the propellers are fitted, and the clock is ticking down on Issyk-Kul. Secure your pass today on TrillerTV, tune in live, and watch who takes historic Pole Position at the Grand Prix of Kyrgyzstan!
